Rwanda Air, the National Carrier of the Republic of Rwanda has been
granted fifth freedom rights to operate between Entebbe (Uganda) and
Nairobi (Kenya) commencing on 29th January 2015 something that will
enhance the transfer of travellers on Uganda safaris and tours.
The flights will operate between these two points daily commencing 9am
in the morning from Entebbe International Airport and 9pm in the evening
from Nairobi. This initiative came in following the mutual
understanding between the countries of Rwanda and Kenya allowing Kenya
Airways and Rwanda Air to operate between the two cities under the fifth
freedom arrangement which will in turn make Entebbe (Uganda) a transit
center and a destination for a range of travellers including those that
would wish to undertake safaris and tours in Uganda.
The Rwanda Air will deploy its dual – class Bombardier CRJ900 next
generation aircraft in its move to enhance its influence in the regional
travel industry. The Entebbe – Nairobi is seen as a move to settle the
demands of business travel and mini-break travellers including those on Uganda safari tour.
The carrier which was last year granted the similar rights to operate
the Entebbe – Juba route following the suspension of Air Uganda, the
incorporation of Entebbe – Nairobi route is an added advantage towards
its greater expansion and connecting the region facilitating the easy
transfer of tourists especially under the East African Single Tourist
Visa which travellers utilize to explore the region as a single
destination including undertaking safari tours to Uganda to explore her
tourist activities like gorilla trekking,
chimpanzee trekking among others. The airline is credited for attaining
the certificate of Air worthiness from International Air Transport
Association (IATA).
